When Boscolo Hotels set out to digitize their guest experience, they had a clear mission in mind: to find a solution that would enhance service quality, support sustainability, and maintain the personal, elegant touch that defines their brand.
Our trusted sales partner, Concierge Digitale, initiated conversations about the possibilities of SuitePad in-room tablets, which soon led to the start of a successful collaboration between SuitePad and Boscolo Hotels.
After the tablets went live in their Nice and Lyon properties in September 2023, it became quickly evident that SuitePad was just the support the hotels needed, and the tool became a fundamental part of their practical operations.
The results? A measurable impact that benefits both the environment and their finances. Boscolo Hotels achieved significant progress in their sustainability goals, with 4,641 skipped room cleanings, saving an estimated €37,000 and reducing water and energy use. At the same time, their guests spent an average of 4 minutes and 15 seconds per session engaging with SuitePad tablets, driving over €170,000 in revenue across the two hotels in one year.
Boscolo Hotels, an Italian luxury hotel chain, has been renowned for its opulent properties that blend each of their hotel's local charm with a subtle Italian flair. Founded by the Boscolo family in 1978, the brand expanded to major cities, including Rome, Milan, Venice, Nice, Lyon, Budapest, and Prague. Currently, SuitePad tablets are live in Boscolo Nice and Boscolo Lyon, both of which offer luxurious rooms, Michelin Guide-level dining, relaxing spa experiences, and exceptional hospitality in prime French locations.
In Nice, the hotel caters almost exclusively to leisure guests, with only a small focus on business and MICE activities. Meanwhile, the Lyon property welcomes a much higher proportion of MICE and business travelers. This contrast highlights SuitePad's ability to seamlessly adapt to the unique needs of both leisure and business-focused audiences.
Boscolo Hotels adopted SuitePad with clear objectives in mind: to put their sustainable practices and guest-centric innovations under one digital umbrella. When SuitePad was introduced, the hotel quickly recognized its potential as more than just a communication tool. It became a platform to spotlight their sustainability efforts in a way that actively involved guests in their vision and digital processes.
This focus on sustainability was recognized when Boscolo Hotels earned the Green Key (Clef Verte) certification in Nice, with Lyon set to follow soon. The Green Key certificate is an international label for tourism businesses, like hotels and restaurants, that follow strict rules and documentation to protect the environment and promote sustainability. The label is awarded annually by an independent jury made up of tourism professionals and environmental experts. SuitePad has been a key part of this journey, acting as a central hub for all the certification details and making it easy for guests to engage with the hotels' green initiatives.
“SuitePad gave us the perfect platform to showcase our sustainability efforts, like the Green Option and Clef Verte, while also actively engaging our guests," shared Giulian Tonazzoli, Director of Marketing at Boscolo Hotels & SPAs. "It’s been a great way to highlight additional services and local partnerships in a way that’s both accessible and elegant."
When Boscolo Hotels introduced SuitePad, they didn’t just replace outdated printed materials, but they also transformed guest engagement through an elegant, digital-first approach. SuitePad’s in-room tablets made it easy for guests to explore hotel services from the comfort of their rooms.
The increased engagement led to tangible results: Guests at Boscolo Hotels Nice and Boscolo Hotels Lyon spent an average of 4 minutes and 15 seconds per session on SuitePad tablets. This higher engagement not only made additional services more accessible but also put the hotel’s exciting collaborations in the spotlight. A good example is their Victoria’s Secret-themed rooftop bar, created in partnership with Percassi, the hotel’s franchising partner for Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal. Guests could browse the tablet to discover other exclusive collaborations like this.
Beyond improving engagement and sustainability, SuitePad has also become a powerful revenue driver. Over the past year, the Nice and Lyon properties together generated more than €170,000 through the tablets. From spa bookings to breakfast upsells—the most popular items—SuitePad connected guests to the services they didn’t even realize they needed.
The Green Option, introduced through SuitePad, invites guests to skip room cleaning services with a single tap. Over the course of 12 months, guests ordered a total of 4,641 skipped room cleanings, roughly 200 cleanings each month. This means that, with an average cleaning cost of 8 euros, this saved the hotels an estimated €37,000.
It was a win-win. Guests appreciated the option to align with the hotel’s sustainability goals, and Boscolo saw a tangible reduction in water and energy usage, along with considerable cost savings.
"The Green Option has a dual impact, benefiting both the environment and our finances. It aligns perfectly with our sustainable and environmentally conscious direction that we should all be going for.”
While sustainability was a significant focus, SuitePad also brought Boscolo Hotels closer to their guests. The quick feedback feature became a game-changer, allowing staff to address concerns in real-time. An incomplete room service order or a small maintenance issue could now be resolved within minutes, leaving guests feeling valued and heard.
“SuitePad’s quick feedback feature proved very beneficial in terms of gathering real-time responses from our guests. This quick interaction allowed us to solve any problem that might have occurred when the guest was still at our hotel.”
This attention to detail and quick response wasn’t just a nice touch. It also reduced potential negative reviews and strengthened guest loyalty.
